Community Action Day: Deepening Community Bonds and Fostering Future Health Care Leaders
American University of the Caribbean (AUC)’s long-standing Community Action Day is a celebration of service, learning, and community collaboration.
The virtual event was led by the Student Government Association in collaboration with Dr. Mary Lucero, Dean of Academic Affairs, and a team of faculty judges and advisors.
The SGA has been restructured with the goal of expanding student initiatives across the four years of medical school, promoting collaboration and engagement throughout the AUC community, and communicating student perspectives across multiple areas of the university.
More than 150 students celebrated the official start to their medical careers at AUC’s Virtual White Coat Ceremony on Friday.
In a reflection of the collaborative spirit and focus on community among the Class of 2021, we are pleased to announce that this year’s student address will be given by five members of the graduating class.
With a focus on preparedness and response to all-hazards events, the conference kicked off with a keynote address from Dr. Richard Carmona, the 17th surgeon general of the United States.
Dr. Cecil W. Cone, II, was recently appointed Assistant Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Sint Maarten campus, a new leadership position in which Dr. Cone will oversee all diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts that support AUC students, faculty, and staff.
