Community Action Day: Deepening Community Bonds and Fostering Future Health Care Leaders
American University of the Caribbean (AUC)’s long-standing Community Action Day is a celebration of service, learning, and community collaboration.
In the hours after Hurricane Irma struck and devastated the island of Sint Maarten, administrative leaders at AUC began the monumental task of finding a venue to temporarily relocate and carry out the rest of the September 2017 semester.
Despite major strides in early detection and treatment, breast cancer remains the most common cancer in women worldwide. This October, in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, AUC students and staff organized numerous events to underscore the ongoing burden of disease.

AUC's third and final Community Action Day of the year took place on Saturday, October 19. More than 220 students, faculty, staff and family contributed to service projects at 14 sites across the island
AUC School of Medicine honored nearly 100 students during the Celebration of Academic Excellence on Friday, October 18.
Ten speakers captivated a soldout audience at AUC’s first TEDx event on October 13. TEDxAUCMED brought together students and members of the Sint Maarten community for a 7-hour program of powerful and inspiring talks.
